Ports on the French Riviera
We have included a list to all of the ports along the Riviera with links to pages giving more detailed information about each port. The French Riviera is generally defined as starting from the Italian border and reaching to just past Cannes. On many occasions the area of the Riviera is said to include the region from Cannes to St Tropez as well. The Riviera was once part of Italy and one of the poorer regions in Europe. During the second half of the 18th century foreign aristocrats started to visit in winter due to the region's mild climate. The real transformation of the Riviera started in the 1950s with developments in air travel. It is now one of the most glamorous locations in the world.
