Port de Frejus

Frejus, also called the Provencal Pompeii, is famous for it's Roman monuments and it's cathedral built of old stone. Situated halfway between Cannes and St Tropez, Frejus has many monuments including one of the largest Gallic amphitheaters, a Roman theatre and an aqueduct. The town of Frejus has plenty of shops and is about a mile inland from the coast. The beach marina is to the east of the town. The marina was originally the harbour of Frejus but since the 10th century it had problems with silting up. The 2 km long beaches are made of fine sand and makethis a popular summer holiday destination.
