Port du Cros de Cagnes

Until reacently, this port was used solely by fisherman, which makes it pretty unique on this part of the coast. It does have a number of excellent fish restaurants on the seafront and in the nearby streets.

For many years the small port of Cros de Cagnes has been, and still is, the historic heart of Cagnes-sur-Mer. Between the years 1920-1930, it was the largest fishing port in the Alpes-Maritimes and it is this continuing activity that characterizes it today. During World War II, it was fortified with bunkers on the pier, which are now protected sites.

Located between the ports of Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Villeneuve-Loubet, the Cros de Cagnes kept its professional maritime activity. Only a dozen fishing vesels continue the art of the past, including the famous pêche à La Poutine , but also the presence of voiles latines (Latin sails) and boat jousting games helps to keep its traditional character going.

Managed directly by the port network of Nice Côte d'Azur, the port of Cros de Cagnes is distinguished by a large business association. Since the transfer of jurisdiction to Nice Côte d'Azur, Nice has worked to implement a new mooring plan and has achieved many improvements and standardised many things. Extending the limits of the port is underway, incorporating part of the adjacent parking.
